Overview
The National Trust NSW is the State’s largest community based, not-for-profit conservation organisation in Australia, operating for more than 75 years. Our vision is to bring the heritage of New South Wales to life for future generations through advocating for the conservation and protection of our built, cultural and natural heritage.
Completed in 1906 and set in 10 hectares of English style gardens, Saumarez Homestead is a grand Edwardian mansion containing a remarkable collection of 19th century furnishings, fashion and historic objects.
The Visitor Experience & Operations Manager is responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operation of Saumarez Homestead, including the visitor experience. They will also be integral to the development and delivery of a series of key events at the property.
About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic, customer focussed Manager to take responsibility for:
- Oversight and management of the visitor experience at Saumarez Homestead;
- Promotion of the aspirations of the Trust in ways which are relevant to the broader community;
- Development and delivery of major events and programs that engage and inspire our visitors and the community;
- Increasing visitor accessibility and enhancing the quality of presentation and interpretation of the property.
The role requires a high level of coordination and operational management, exceptional people skills, solid financial acumen as well as a deep understanding of what makes a good customer experience across a range of activities.
About you
To deliver this role successfully, you’ll need to have:
- A keen eye for detail, taking on responsibility for all aspects of the visitor experience;
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering major events and programs;
- A great track record of leading and motivating volunteers;
- Strong organisation and planning skills, supporting and delivering all aspects of the visitor experience offer;
- Experience in producing performance reports (financial, visitation) for management, as required;
- An understanding of the aims and ethos of the National Trust, in particular the ambition for achieving the financial sustainability of the property.
This is a part-time permanent position for 28 hours per week, including Saturday. The days of working may depend to some degree on property activities, and a high degree of flexibility is desirable.
